Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, aka Efya, hails from Kumasi, Ghana. This singer, songwriter, and actress is the daughter of Nana Adwoa Awindor, a renowned filmmaker and host of the late TV show, Greetings From Abroad. Efya’s career took off after she participated in the first Stars of the Future. She dominated the Ghana Music Awards, winning Best Female Vocal Performance four times in a row, starting in 2011. Her performance at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards also earned her praise.
Efya released her debut mixtape, T.I.N.T., in 2013, featuring songs from 2011 to 2013. The singles “Getaway” and “Best In Me” supported the mixtape. Her long-awaited debut album, Janesis, finally dropped in 2016 after several delays. The album’s lead single, “Forgetting Me,” came out in 2014. In 2016, Wizkid signed Efya to his Starboy Entertainment label after his Ghana Music Awards performance. 3Music Network recognized Efya’s influence by including her on their Top 30 Most Influential Women in Music list in 2021.
